Mia Forrest (b. 1987) is an artist based in Australia.
Her film work explores poetic and surreal ways to expand time, and has exhibited internationally at the Cannes AVIFF Art Festival, Channels International Biennial of Video Art at the Australian Center for Moving Image, Queensland Film Festival, Aesthetica Film Festival, and Revelation Perth International Film Festival.
Music videos Mia has directed, have been twice nominated for a Queensland Music Award.
In 2021, Mia’s portraiture was shortlisted for the 2021 Photo Collective Australian Photography Award in the Documentary Category, and subsequently was awarded 3rd place.
In 2021, Mia released her genesis NFT collection, Bloom, a time-based motion project that uses slit scan + time remapping. The transformative colours and textures reveal a futuristic rendering of the botanicals; forming a surreal DNA-like helix structure as they bloom toward a reimagined future.
As the plants transform and mutate over time, the spectacle showcases new cosmic futures, inviting the audience to contemplate how these species morph, change, survive, and thrive over time.
Bloom aims to inspire a sense of futuristic wonder.
